New Business - Labor Agreements/Contracts

Title: LA2 TENTATIVE AGREEMENT WITH POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the Tentative Agreements that were ratified by the Police Benevolent Association for Officers and Supervisors on June 10, 2005.  These agreements amend the 2003-2006 Collective Bargaining Agreements for Officers and Supervisors with salary adjustments for 2004-2005, 2005-2006, and 2006-2007 and with no additional salary adjustments until January 1, 2007.

Highlights of the Tentative Agreement include:

 

Provides an across the board salary adjustment of 3% effective July 1, 2004; an across the board salary adjustment of 4% effective July 1, 2005; and an across the board salary adjustment of 1.9% effective July 1, 2006.  Guarantees that the next salary adjustment may not occur until January 1, 2007, and that salary adjustments thereafter will be effective on January 1.

Permits the District to amend the Pay Check Schedule from 24 to 26 pays (every other Friday) after providing notice to PBA and to Officers and to Supervisors and to establish special provisions for automatic deposits and “paperless” pay stubs.

Establishes a contract provision for mileage reimbursement to Officers that will be consistent with the State’s mileage reimbursement rate and any increases thereof

 

Description: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE TENTATIVE AGREEMENT ADOPTED BY THE POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION (PBA) ON JUNE 10, 2005, THAT AMENDS THE 2003-2006 COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT FOR THE 2004-2005 SCHOOL YEAR AND FOR ADDITION SALARY ADJUSTMENTS UNTIL JANUARY 1, 2007.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact is approximately $190,000 in FY-05; an additional $260,000 in FY-06; and an additional $128,000 in FY-07.
