Title: Recommendation: Description: This confirming contract is presented to the School Board due to the lack of correspondence between the placement and the board meeting dates. This student was attending the North Area transitional alternative program full time. After a serious incident, the student was court ordered to have a comprehensive evaluation by the Board. As a result of that evaluation, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting was scheduled to review the results and consider appropriate recommendations. The IEP team met on May 17, 2005 and determined that the student met eligibility criteria for Emotionally Handicapped and due to his severe behavioral and emotional issues, he requires a diagnostic and stabilization placement in a residential facility. The district will pay for this student's diagnostic, habilitation and educational services for only those days the student is physically present and in attendance. The diagnostic placement provides the additional data required to determine the student's future educational needs. While the contract provides for services through December 2005, the district will conduct an IEP meeting prior to August 2005 to consider a placement in the School District for the 2005-06 school year. This cooperative agreement is in compliance with State Board Rule 6A.6-0361, "Special Programs for Contractual Agreements with Non-Public Schools."
