Title: G11 Multiagency Network for Students with Severe Emotional Disturbance Project Grant

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the continuation of the Multiagency Network for Students with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SEDNET) project entitlement grant in the amount of $133,660, effective July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the grant which are required for implementation of the grant activities.

Description:

The grant application will be submitted to the Florida Department of Education.

The 2005-2006 school year project application summary was developed through cooperative planning and agreement among the SEDNET Executive Committee members.

This Grant has been in effect for the past seventeen (17) years.

SEDNET priorities include the following goals:

Develop and coordinate the school to work transition program for students with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) in Palm Beach County.

Increase the effectiveness of existing education, mental health treatment and residential services for students with emotional handicaps and/or SED.

Serve as a catalyst for collaborative, state-of-the art development of a unified system of care for students with SED and related populations.

Coordinate the continued implementation of school-based mental health services for SED students in Palm Beach County.

Financial Impact:
Pending State approval, the financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds budget will be an increase of $133,660.  These funds will be allocated within the Exceptional Student Education Department.
