Title: G12 Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund Grant

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund Grant in the amount of $215,761 effective July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all related documents and contracts.

Description:

The grant will be assigned to the following schools in the indicated amounts:

• Belle Glade Elementary                           $33,656
• KEC/Canal Point Elementary                  $28,280
• Glade View Elementary                           $28,512
• Pioneer Park Elementary                         $28,000
• Gove Elementary                                     $47,153
• Pahokee Elementary                                $34,160
• Rosenwald Elementary                             $16,000

Funds will be used to support admission and transportation fees for field trips designed to enhance instruction of the Florida Sunshine State Standards.

The principal of each school will furnish the Pew Fund with a final report that contains a financial statement and a narrative account of program outcomes.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the district is $215,761.  These funds will be received over a one year period and will be appropriated in the designated school’ budgets.
