Title: AC1 Cooperative Agreement with Nova Southeastern University

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the cooperative agreement with NSU, Center for Psychological Studies to provide three school psychology interns from August 10, 2005 through May 31, 2006 and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents related to this agreement.

Description:

Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Center for Psychological Studies provides a graduate curriculum toward earning a specialist's degree in school psychology.

Part of the NSU and the Florida Department of Education requirements for this degree is a supervised internship experience.

The district recruits and supervises a number of school psychology interns on an annual basis as part of its obligations to the profession and as an active recruiting practice designed to fill future needs.

This cooperative agreement will provide for three school psychology interns from NSU to perform their internship experience in this district.

The school psychology interns will provide services to the district's schools such as evaluations, consultation with teachers and parents and interventions to support our students.

The district will pay each intern $15,000.00 for their services.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the ESE Department's IDEA budget is $45,000.  The source of funds is the Exceptional Student Education Department Budget.
