Title: AC3 Amendment to an Existing Agreement with Columbia Palms West Hospital

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve an amendment to an existing Affiliation Agreement with Columbia Palms West Hospital Limited Partnership d/b/a Palms West Hospital, effective July 21, 2005 through June 30, 2006, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and amendments related to the agreement which are required for implementation.

Description:

This amends the two year agreement with Columbia Palms West Hospital as approved by the School Board on July 21, 2004 as agenda item 9A-5. 

Full-time Health Science Education programs are located in the following high schools: Boca Raton Community High, Glades Central High School, Inlet Grove Community High School, Inc., Jupiter Community High, Lake Worth Community High, Palm Beach Gardens Community High, Palm Beach Lakes Community High, Park Vista Community High School, and South Tech Charter Academy, Inc.

This amendment covers the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1966) Security Rule Requirements, which became effective on April 14, 2005.

HIPAA governs the security of EPHI (electronic protected health information) that will protect the confidentiality and  integrity that it creates, receives, maintains or transmits.

The School District of Palm Beach County will report any security incidents to Palms West Hospital.

Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the District.
