Title: CLS1-FY2006 School Advisory Council Membership Report

Recommendation:

School Board Policy 2.09 (2)(b)(c) and Florida Statute 1001.452(1)(a) describe the membership requirements for School Advisory Councils.  Members must include:  (1) the principal, (2) an appropriately balanced number of tachers, education support employees, students (where appropriate), parents, and business and community representatives.  Additionally, the members must be representative of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school, and a majority of the members must be persons who are not employed by the school.

School Board Policy 2.09 (5)(d) and Florida Statute 1001.452 require the School Board to review the membership composition of each School Advisory Council to determine if the membership is representative of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school.  Based on the recommendation of the Board member in whose district the school is located, School Board members may vote to appoint additional member(s) to a School Advisory Council to achieve proper representation.

An analysis of the FY2006 School Advisory Council Membership Report indicates that 100% of the School Advisory Councils meet the requirements of Florida Statute and School Board Policy.

Description: I recommend that the School Board approve the FY2006 School Advisory Council Membership Report.

Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the District.
