Title: AC1-Rate Agreement Extension with Family Central, Inc. for Subsidized Childcare Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the Rate Agreement Extension with Family Central, Inc., for subsidized child-care at selected elementary schools effective January 1, 2006 through February 28, 2006, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all related documents and contracts.
Description: The purpose of this Rate Agreement Extension is to continue the method by which Early Childhood Education Programs receive payment for children who are eligible for financially-assisted (subsidized) child care for up to 10 hours a day. The original Rate Agreement was effective July 1, 2004 and will terminate December 31, 2005. This extension is for a two month period from January 1, 2006 through February 28, 2006. The extension is necessary due to a delayed procurement process caused by Hurricane Wilma.
This program provides services for up to 350 eligible 3 and 4-year old children as determined by Florida Statute 411.01 in 25 high need elementary school sites. Identified sites for the 2005/06 school year include: (A) Beacon sites: Barton, Forest Park, Lantana, Village Academy, Pleasant City, Pahokee, Pioneer Park, Northmore, Washington, West Riviera; and (B) Non-Beacon Sites: Galaxy, Highland, Pine Grove, Rolling Green, Heritage, Palmetto, Roosevelt, Starlight Cove, U. B. Kinsey, Westward, Belle Glade, K E Cunningham, Rosenwald, Lincoln, and Wynnebrook.
Family Central will monitor the Prekindergarten Programs, by conducting site visits at least once a year, to insure compliance of the signed Rate Agreement. Follow-up visits will be made as needed.
Evaluation will be accomplished using the SRUSS Kindergarten Readiness Instruments.
