Title: AC2-Amendment to the Early Learning Coalition Rate Agreement

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the Amendment to the Rate Agreement with the Palm Beach County Early Learning Coalition, Inc., from December 31, 2005 through February 28, 2006, and authorize the Superintendent to sign all related documents and contracts.

Description:

• The purpose of this Rate Agreement Amendment is to continue the method by which the School Age Child Care (SACC) Programs will receive payment for children who are eligible for subsidized child care.
• The current Agreement with the Early Learning Coalition and Family Central ends on December 31, 2005.  This Amendment extends the current contract through February 28, 2006, because time was missed from the procurement process due to Hurricane Wilma. 
• If this agenda item is not approved, subsidized child care funding will end on December 31, 2005.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds budget is an increase of up to $3,000,000 for FY06.  These funds will be allocated to the Department of After-School Programming for the operation of the School Age Child Care Programs.  There is no financial impact to the Operating Budget.
