Title: Recommendation: Description: An IEP team met on November 18, 2005 and confirmed that the student requires residential placement to address severe behavioral and communication needs. This confirming contract is presented to the Board due to the time needed to confirm bed availability at the recommended facility and to confirm residential cost payment by Florida's Agency for Person with Disabilities (APD). This student has been attending a full time dual diagnosis program at Royal Palm School. The student's aggressive behavior has escalated to the point that recent hospitalization has been required. The IEP team, in conjunction with APD, are in agreement that the student requires residential placement to get serious aggressive behaviors under control. The student has been appropriately identified as a student with disabilities in the areas of Trainable Mentally Handicapped and Autism by the School District of Palm Beach County in compliance with state and local statutes and regulations. The district will pay the educational costs for those days the student is physically present and in attendance at the residential facility. This cooperative agreement is in compliance with State Board Rule 6A.6-0361, "Special Programs for Contractual Agreements with Non-Public Schools." The FTE earned by this student for FY 06 is projected to be $ 20,146. The prorated cost to the district for services from December 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006 is $ 11,752.
