Title: AC1-Edline LLC Purchase Agreement

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve renewal of the contract with Edline, LLC for the upgrade, development, and continued usage of the Edline on-line Parent/Community Information Portal for all schools, and authorize the Superintendent to sign all documents and contracts related to the project. 

Description:

·         Edline has been in use for 3 years as a District-wide resource and has become widely adopted by schools as an important means to enhance communication between schools, classroom teachers, parents, and students. The current contract with Edline expires on April 30, 2007. This contract will extend Edline service through June 30, 2010.

·         The District will continue its collaborative alliance with Edline in building new applications, functionalities, and services. Features to be constructed and deployed during the course of this contract include:

• Single sign-on to instructional resources such as online textbooks, FCAT Explorer, Riverdeep, FACTS.org, and other resources.

• Parent access to student transcript reports directly within Edline.

• New reports for parents to track cafeteria SNAP account balances.

• New messaging system for parents to more easily contact teachers and provide alternatives for parents without e-mail accounts.

• New teacher and school tools to make the creation of online surveys, questionnaires, and reports easy and fast.

• Online class schedule requests to automate the process of requesting courses with school guidance counselors.

• Improved reporting for school administrators including usage and statistic reports and oversight tools to track teacher uploads of progress reports to Edline.

Previous contract with Edline ends March 31, 2007.  Current contract beginning date is April 1, 2007 to avoid a lapse in service.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact of $440,493 for FY07 will be to the Capital Budget.  The financial impact to the Capital Budget for FY08 is $422,180; and for FY09 is $506,955.
