Title: G2-State of Florida Department of Education Alternative Education Public-Private Partnerships Grant Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board accept the State of Florida Department of Education, Alternative Education/Public - Private Partnerships Grant for reimbursement of contractual services in the amount of up to $668,750 for contractual services provided by Excel Alternatives, effective July 1, 2006 through June, 30, 2007, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts required for implementation of grant activities.
Description: The State of Florida Department of Education Public – Private Partnerships Grant will provide partial payment at $1,250 per student for contractual services with the designated provider Excel Alternatives, for services to 535 students in grades 6-12 at the Excel alternative education partnership school.
This grant request is a continuation of grant funding for the 2006-2007 Florida Education Partnership - Alternative Education/Public Private Partnership Grant. Arbor E & T, LLC, Inc. (Excel Arbor E & T, LLC, Inc. (Excel Alternatives) is contracted with the SDPBC to provide the educational program at Excel Alternative schools. Excel Alternatives has been selected as SDPBC's continuing private partner.
Services include
*Normative education
*Social skills training, including social influences training
* Parent/Guardian Involvement.
Grant management will be provided by the School Administrator and the Department of Alternative Education.
Measurable outcomes focus on a decrease in behavior referrals and an increase in reading and mathematics.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds budget will be an increase of up to $668,750 to the FY07 budget. All grant-related expenditures and contracts are authorized for payment in the amount of the revenue.
