Title: PM1 Palm Springs Middle Project Modifications

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications for the addition of sixty-four (64) non-compensable consecutive calendar days and ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $34,556.00 for Palm Springs Community Middle School, Modernization Project #0611-8284 (C.R. Klewin Construction Manager), and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

This project modification contains the following items:

Item #1

  • COPR #3 for the addition of sixty-four (64) non-compensable calendar days.
  • Description: Extend the overall contract completion for the project by 64 non-compensable calendar days moving the project completion date to July 15, 2007.
  • Cause: School District Requested - The referenced time delays.
  • Justification: The documentation for these delays were reviewed and approved by Project Controls and the Architect of Record.  The District delayed in removal of portable classrooms from the site located within the project building footprint, making commencement of work in that area impossible.

    • Modify the existing Notice to Proceed by adding 62 non-compensable calendar days to Phase I.  This will move Substantial Completion from June 13, 2006 to August 14, 2006 and final completion from September 13, 2006 to November 14, 2006.

    • Modify the existing Notice to Proceed by adding 59 non-compensable calendar days to Phase II.  This will move Substantial Completion from January 30, 2007 to March 28, 2007 14, 2006 and final completion from May 15, 2007 to July 15, 2007

    • Modify the existing Notice to Proceed by adding 64 non-compensable calendar days to Phase III.  This will move Substantial Completion from April 30, 2007 to July 3, 2007 14, 2006 and final completion from June 15, 2007 to July 15, 2007.

Item #2

  • CCD #2 in the amount of $34,556.00
  • Description: Install digital marquee as per school’s request.
  • Cause: School District Requested - Original construction drawings called for an illuminated marquee with plastic inserted letters.
  • Justification: The digital marquee will keep PSCMC equitable with other middle schools in the vicinity.  PSCMS will fund the additional costs.

Financial Impact:

The Financial Impact to the Project’s Budget is $34,556.00 which will be paid from Palm Springs Community Middle School FF&E Account.
