Title: AC2-Cooperative Agreement with Florida Atlantic University

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve this cooperative agreement with Florida Atlantic University  to place Speech-Language Pathologist interns in District schools and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents related to this agreement.  This agreement shall be in effect from April 19, 2007 until either party desires to review or terminate the agreement. 

Description:

This cooperative agreement allows the District to accept eligible speech-language pathology students as interns with District certified speech-language pathologists.

Florida Atlantic University will consult with the School District Department of Exceptional Student Education in selecting clinical experiences for these students.

Florida Atlantic University will provide student supervision and assure interns will adhere to District policies and procedures.

Florida Atlantic University will maintain professional liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 for each intern.

As the District is continually facing a shortage of speech-language pathologists, this cooperative agreement  assists the District in identifying qualified candidates.

Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the District.
