Title: AC4-Continuation of the Interagency Transition Agreement with Center for Child Development (Early St Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve continuation of the interagency agreement with the Center for Child Development and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents related to this agreement. The effective dates of this interagency agreement are July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2010.
Description: This cooperative agreement is a State Initiative of the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System (FDLRS), and is required by Part C (birth through two years) of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA), and the Early Steps Program.
During the 2006-2007 school year approximately 342 students with disabilities who were transitioning from Part C to Part B (age three to five) received services under procedures described in this agreement.
The Board and the Early Steps Program at the Child Development Center, Inc., will collaborate to facilitate the transition of children eligible for Part C services to appropriate Part B IDEA services for three year old children.
The Early Steps Programs at the Child Development Center will refer Part C students to the Board as soon as parental consent is obtained.
The Board will ensure that students served through the transition process have been placed according to the District's Policies and Procedures for the Provision of Specially Designed Instruction and Related Services for Exceptional Students.
This cooperative agreement is in compliance with the State Board Rule 6A.6-03026, "Special Programs for Prekindergarten Children with Disabilities."
