I recommend that the School Board approve the Charter Renewal Application for Delray Youth Vocational Charter School.
Description: Delray Youth Vocational Charter School (DYVCS) serves students ages 16 to 21. The charter school opened August 14, 2002. The five (5) year contract ends June 30, 2007.
The mission of DYVCS is to provide an individualized academic plan for each student that enables rapid skill remediation as well as comprehensive preparation for the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or an exit option diploma.
The application was received by the appropriate District Departments. The application rates above acceptable, meets the requirements and is recommended for approval.
The School Board's approval of the application merely indicates an agreement to enter into charter negotiations and, if successfully negotiated and approved by the School Board, will result in entering into a Charter Contract. The Charter shall be the binding agreement, which details all rights and responsibilities of the School Board and the charter school.
A copy of the application and the evaluation points tabulation sheet are on file in the Board Office for your review.
