Title: PM8 Boca Raton Community Middle Project Modifications

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $541,893.76 and for the addition of forty-six (46) non-compensable calendar days for the Boca Raton Community Middle School Modernization Project #1491-8379, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

This project modification contains the following item:

• CCD #3 in the amount of $541,893.76 and for the addition of forty-six (46) non-compensable calendar days.
• Description:  Add the removal of items containing less than 1% hazardous materials to the demolition contractor's scope of work.  Extend the project schedule by an additional forty-six (46) days.   Revise the Phase 2 substantial completion date from April 1, 2007 to May 17, 2007.
• Cause:  School District Requested
• Justification:  The demolition of items containing less than 1% hazardous materials was originally planned to be a part of the abatement contractor's scope of work.  By eliminating this from their scope of work, the abatement contract was reduced by approximately $1,500,000.  The net savings to the SDPBC by having the demolition contractor perform this work was $900,000 to $1,000,000.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $541,893.76

The source of funds is Capital Contingency.
