The name "Gateway High School" refers to the "choice" struggling high school students make to pursue a High School Diploma through the Exit Options Program. The Exit Options program is a "gateway" or portal for students who choose to pursue a higher level of academic process.
2. Gateway Center for Secondary Education is the committee's second
choice for a school name
The name "Gateway Center for Secondary Education" refers to the population of students we serve. The vision of the Exit Options program is to provide an alternative or "gateway" for high school students to receive their H.S. Diploma who have missed their graduation year or are currently in the year in which they are supposed to graduate.
3. Challenger Academy is the committee's third choice for a name.
'The name "Challenger Academy" refers to the specific choice the students to this program have made. All of our students have faced a multitude of challenges in their lives and have made the commitment to continue their education. The Exit Options Program offers a way for those who choose to overcome their specific challenges to receive a H.S. Diploma.
The selection committee for renaming the school was represented by all of our stakeholders: Students, Parents, Community members, Teachers and Administrations.
