Title: Recommendation: I recommend that the Chair find that good cause exists to add this item to the agenda because it is in the District’s best interest to immediately enter into a contract to decrease the risk of exposure to a new virus that could compromise the security of the District’s confidential information, and that the School Board approve this agreement and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all necessary documents Description: P8 Approve the negotiated agreement for McAfee’s Total Protection Enterprise which includes VirusScan, Anti-Spyware, Host Intrusion Prevention for desktops, SiteAdvisor Enterprise, GroupShield for Microsoft Exchange & Lotus Domino, Spamkiller for Mailservers, WebShield SMTP, ePolicy Orchestrator, McAfee policy enforcer Gold Level Support for 3 years. · The District was recently exposed to a Day One virus. As District employees worked to contain the virus, it became apparent that a new virus protection system is necessary to prevent the District’s systems from being compromised by malicious attacks. · The McAfee suite of products will provide greater security and the ability to be proactive in avoiding virus attacks. · The 1st year of this contract includes an upgrade to Platinum Level Support which provides the District with a dedicated technical account manager (TAM) to assist in the full deployment of this product and removing the incumbent. On the anniversary date of this agreement, the District has the ability to determine if this level of support is needed for the subsequent years. If it isn’t required, there is no additional cost. · The District has negotiated the ability to purchase additional licenses during this agreement at the same discounted rate. Financial Impact: The financial impact is not to exceed $ 1,583,950 from the non-construction capital budget.
