Title: G23-Champs Afterschool Enrichment Program

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the Children's Services Council and Picower Foundation grant for $250,000.00 effective July 1, 2007, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the grant which are required for implementation of the grant activities.

Description: The Champs Afterschool Enrichment program is currently implemented in 43 afterschool programs, 25 of which are District School Age Child Care (SACC) programs.  The Children's Services Council and Picower Foundations working with PrimeTime, Inc. wish to authorize the District's Department of Afterschool Programming to oversee the implementation of Champs for the period of July 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008.   Budget period July 1, 2007 through September 30, 2007 is requested for transition of the program initiative at the start of the 2007-2008 school year.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds Budget is an increase of $250,000.00.  All grant related expenditures and contracts are authorized for payment up to the amount of revenue.  There is no financial impact to the Operating Budget.
