Title: PM11 Panther Run ES Project Modifications

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications in the Not-to-Exceed amount of $322,921.00 and the addition of two hundred sixty two (262) non-compensable days and one hundred nineteen (119) compensable days for Panther Run Elementary, Classroom Addition Project #2161-8378, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

This project modification contains the following items:

Item #1

CCD #4 in the amount of $279,050.00 and the addition of 179 non-compensable days.

• Item #1 in the Not-to-Exceed amount of $182,400.00 and the addition of one hundred seventy nine (179) non-compensable days and seventy eight (78) compensable days.
• Description: Extend substantial completion two hundred fifty seven (257) days.
• Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
• Justification: Delays due to existing conditions creating revisions for conflicts with; utilities, structural components, fire stopping, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

• Item #2 in the Not-to-Exceed amount of $96,650.00 and the addition of eighty three (83) non-compensable days and forty one (41) compensable days
• Description: Extend substantial completion one hundred twenty four (124) days.
• Cause: Design Omissions.
• Justification: The addition to the cafeteria building encroached on the existing Flammable storage and FP&L vault building creating an enclosed corridor between the two buildings. A new flammable storage area is required and the FP&L vent is required to be relocated. The Physical Education Building required an additional concrete retaining wall and dewatering system to compensate for an elevation error.  

Item #2

• CCD#5  in the Not-to-Exceed amount of $13,341.00
• Description: Modify the venting of the Florida Power and Light vault.
• Cause: Design Omission
• Justification: The existing louver now opens into a covered corridor. Code requires the venting to be directly to the outside.  

Item #3

• CCD#6  in the Not-to-Exceed amount of $5,456.00
• Description: Extend the mechanical room walls to the roof deck.
• Cause: Design Omission
• Justification: Code requires mechanical room wall to extend to the roof deck or to be or to be protected by fire sprinklers.

Item #4

• CCD#7  in the Not-to-Exceed amount of $25,074.00
• Description: Relocate Flammable Storage room.
• Cause: Design Omission
• Justification: The existing flammable storage room now opens into a covered corridor. Code requires flammable storage areas to open directly to the outside.

Financial Impact:

The Financial Impact to the Project’s Budget is a Not-to-Exceed of $322,921.00.

The source of funds is Restricted Reserve.
