Title: PM5 Sandpiper Shores ES Project Modifications

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $281,093.49 for Sandpiper Shores Elementary School, Class Size Reduction and HVAC Project #1961‑8355, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

 

This project modification contains the following items

 

Item #1

  • CCD #2 in the amount of $78,666.43      

Description:  Furnish and install lightning protection

Cause: School District Requested

Justification:  Lightning protection is required but was not on the drawings for the added mechanical rooms, new chiller building and modular addition.

 

Description:  Add vestibules between classroom bathrooms in the new building addition

Cause:  School District Requested

Justification: The vestibules were not in the original design at time of contract. They were added to create the link between classrooms and restrooms.

Description: Added cost for the intercom above the initial $45,000

Cause:  School District Requested

Justification: The contract with Suffolk included an allowance of $45,000 for the intercom. The work was an unknown scope at the time of award of contract.

 

Description: Permit fees to PBCWUD, LWDD and SFWMD

Cause: Outside Agency

Justification: Contractor paid the permit fees to expedite the work

required.

 

Item #2

§         CCD #3 in the amount of $49,148.64

§         Description: Furnish and Install ITV in the new building addition.

§        Furnish and install projector cabling in the existing school. Add gypsum board to the roof system per Building Department comments.

§         Cause: School District Requested

§        Justification:  To meet the Building Department requirements (gypsum board) and the School District requirements (projectors and ITV). 

  

Item #3

  • CCD #4 in the amount of $133,991.00
  • Description: Furnish and install added ceiling mounted motion sensors and wall switches with integral motion sensors.
  • Cause: School District Requested
  • Justification: To meet the Building Code and the Building Department requirements and the School District requirements.

 Item #4

  • CCD #5 in the amount of $19,287.42
  • Description:  Security Guard during Phase I of the HVAC renovation.
  • Cause: School District Requested
  • Justification:  To ensure safety requirements of the School District for the students.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $281,093.49

 

The source of funds is the project budget as approved by the Board at the time of the Construction Contract Award.
