Title: Recommendation: I recommend the School Board approve an Agreement for Architectural Design Services with BRPH Architects Engineers, Inc. in the amount of $1,765,940. and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for Northboro Elementary School Modernization, Project No: 0291-7504. Description: Architectural design services required for development of permitted design documents for the construction of 91,260 gross square feet of new classrooms, support spaces, administration, media center, foodservice/cafetorium and remodeling of an existing 34,935 gross square foot classroom building, civil engineering requirements for street abandonment, utility relocation, storm water assessment and tie in to existing outflow and abandonment of existing on site sewer laterals. Design services will also include necessary improvements to structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) and life-safety systems upgrade required for a 4,027 GSF building (#7) established in 1925. Facility design shall be in accordance with the Educational Specifications approved by the Board on March 21, 2007. Estimated Budget for Planning and Design: $1,606,187. Estimated Budget for Construction: $23,088,933. (Five Year Capital Plan) Design Fee Basic Services: $1,385,600. (Inclusive of basic civil, foodservice and landscape/irrigation design and submittal for demolition permitting) Accepted Alternate Services: $27,500. (Structural, MEP and life-safety- Building #7) Extraordinary Civil Design: $145,000. (Utility and storm water relocation/improvements) Funds Available For: Additional Services: $138,560. Reimbursable Expenses: $ 69,280. Total Contract Award: $1,765,940. Ten (10) firms responded to the RFP of which three (3) were shortlisted. The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows: (1) BRPH Architects Engineers, Inc. (2) Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville, Inc. (3) Howard & Associates Architects, P.A. Inc. (African American Male) Minority Sub-Consultant Participation: 20% Financial Impact: The financial impact is $1,812,618. which includes $46,678. for District provided Professional Responsibility Insurance.
