Title: CP-2 Architectural Design Services Agreement for Whispering Pines Elementary School Classroom Additi

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve an Agreement for Architectural Design Services with Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville, Inc., in the amount of $584,850. and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for the Whispering Pines Elementary School Classroom Addition, Project No: 1781-8307.

Description:

Architectural design services required to complete permitted design documents for the construction of 12,148 GSF, 58 new student stations classroom addition with an alternate addition to the design services for the future expansion of 12,860 GSF to the core facility including dining/multipurpose, staff lounge, stage, storage, restrooms and foodservice. Design shall be in accordance with the Educational Specifications approved by the Board on February 21, 2007.

 

Estimated Budget for Planning and Design:   $440,202.

Estimated Budget for Construction:             $6,327,902.  (Five Year Capital Plan) 

 

Fee for Basic Services:    

 

Classroom Addition-     $279,925. (Inclusive of  civil, landscape irrigation, Advanced Schematic Design for future expansion and construction administration)

                                                                                      

Alternate (Future)-  $228,650. (Inclusive of civil, landscape & irrigation, foodservice design, demolition design and construction administration  less  Advanced Schematic Design from the Classroom  Addition)                                        

                                    

Funds Available For:

Additional Services:        $50,850.

Reimbursable Expenses: $25,425.

 

Total Contract Award:    $584,850.

 

 

Nine (9) firms responded to the RFP of which three (3) were shortlisted.  Prior to Presentations one of the shortlisted firms withdrew. The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows: 

 

(1) Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville, Inc.

(2) Howard & Associates, Inc.  

 

Minority Sub-Consultant Participation: 20%

Financial Impact:

The financial impact is $587,520. which includes $2670. for District provided Professional Responsibility Insurance.  The source of funds is the Capital Project Budget.
