P3 Approve the sale of Off-Adoption Surplus Textbooks to
Follett Educational Services, Inc. for a revenue payment
of $45,000.76
· School Board Policy 7.12 provides for the disposal of
instructional materials in accordance with State
Board of Education Rule 6A-7.074, FAC.
· Offers were solicited from 65 textbook companies on
June 26, 2007. Two offers were received. Follett
Educational Services, Inc. submitted the highest offer
of $45,000.76.
· The offer is for the purchase and pick-up of off-adoption
K-2 Science, World Languages, Health Ed., Health
Sciences Ed., Business and Computer Ed., Family &
Consumer Sciences, Industrial & Tech. Ed. textbooks for
approximately 152 elementary, middle and high schools.
Successful vendor is required to purchase and pick-up
the total quantity of surplus textbooks at specified school
locations.
· Follett Educational Services, Inc. will pick-up surplus
textbooks from all specified schools on the designated
list beginning October 1, 2007 and be completed by
November 1, 2007.
· The Instructional Materials Department maintains a limited
give-away program that is open to students and
the general public. Off-adoption surplus books are
available for free on a first-come, first-served basis.
· District schools have been authorized to offer off-adoption
materials to students, parents and community members at
the end of the year in June and during fall open houses
and curriculum nights.
· The sale of surplus textbooks is revenue for the District.
All money received from the sale of surplus textbooks
shall be appropriated for instructional materials.
