Title: Recommendation: I recommend approval of the purchase of AirTight Networks Wireless Intrusion Prevention System from Transparent Technology Services of Description: P4 Approve the Purchase of AirTight Networks Wireless Intrusion Prevention System from Transparent Technology Services of · The District’s wireless data network is expanding in infrastructure and scope which will necessitate enterprise-wide security and performance monitoring to ensure the wireless network’s availability, integrity and performance. · AirTight Networks Wireless Intrusion Prevention System (WIPS) provides around-the-clock wireless network monitoring and automatic intrusion prevention to maintain network and mobile client integrity from wireless security vulnerabilities. · AirTight Networks WIPS can be used to centrally monitor all wireless networks in the district for network and security anomalies that would indicate an unauthorized intrusion that could interfere with the normal operations of the district’s information systems, including email, web and PeopleSoft. · AirTight Networks WIPS uses patented technology that automatically identifies authorized devices on the wired and wireless networks. Unauthorized devices, called “rouge devices”, are prevented from adversely affecting the performance and availability of information systems. · The only certified Value Added Reseller (VAR) in e source of funds is Financial Impact: The financial impact to the District is estimated at $475,000. The source of funds is the IT Security Project, #408000009, which is included in the FY08 Five Year Capital Plan and the FY08 Tentative Budget.
