New Business - Consultant Contracts

Title: CC1 A-K Consultant Contracts for SMILE Youth Services

Recommendation:
I recommend award of the consultant contract with SMILE Youth Services for a total of $65,652.75 effective August 16, 2007 through January 31, 2008 and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all needed documents.

Description: Consultant will score student writing using skill-based rubrics and analyzing class trends. The reports generated by the consultant will assist teacher in determining the focus for individual student and whole group instruction and assist administrators in monitoring teacher implementation of the SMILE writing program. The consultant's objective is to increase each student's writing performance and increase teacher proficiency in the teaching of writing.
