Title: CC2 Consultant Contract with Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches Recommendation:
I recommend award of the consultant contract with Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches for $216,000 effective September 15, 2007 through September 15, 2012 and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all needed documents.
Description: The School District will partner with Junior Achievement of the Palm Beach, Inc. a not - for - profit organization, in conjunction with local K-12 schools. Students in the Junior Achievement Program will be under the supervision and guidance of professionally trained consultants and teachers.
To be eligible for participation, a school must identify teachers from a variety of courses who want to participate in and who elect to implement the Junior Achievement component to augment economic education.
The partnership will provide the following: Junior Achievement will provide classroom teachers with program kits, software programs, and a textbook or a workbook for each student with ancillary materials.
Schools are encouraged to establish enterprises, which will set-up checking accounts through Junior Achievement's corporate banking sponsors, where appropriate.
The partnership promotes business practices and economic decision-making with student-run companies that provide hands-on experience for the students.
Classroom teachers and students will work in partnership with Junior Achievement and their consultants throughout the school year calendar.
