Title: G2-PrimeTime Champs Afterschool Enrichment Initiative

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the Children's Services Council and Picower Foundation grant for $978,191.00 effective October 1, 2007, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the grant which are required for implementation of the grant activities.

Description: The Champs Afterschool Enrichment Initiative is currently implemented in 43 afterschool programs, 25 of which are District School Age Child Care (SACC) programs.  The Children's Services Council and Picower Foundations working with PrimeTime, Inc. wish the District's Department of Afterschool Programming to continue overseeing the implementation of Champs for the period of October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008.   The transition of this initiative to the District’s oversight began July1, 2007 after the Board approved an initial award at the June 27, 2007 District Board meeting. 

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds Budget is an increase of $978,191.00.  All grant related expenditures and contracts are authorized for payment up to the amount of revenue.  There is no financial impact to the Operating Budget.
