Title: RFP 04C-027N, Academy Marketing Plan

Description:

Ap  Approve RFP 04C-027N, Develop a Marketing Plan for Academy Programs

·   The Evaluation Committee, consisting of District staff, convened and reviewed the proposal received.  It is the recommendation of the Committee to award this contract to Mediawise Communications.

·    The Academy Marketing plan has been developed for several reasons:

First, we want to ensure that students, parents, and the business community are receiving correct information as we shift the paradigm from traditional "vocational" programs to the student achievement oriented Career Academy model.

Secondly, the Academy Marketing plan is funded by the 2004-05 Carl Perkins grant, which was School Board approved in June, 2004. The goals of our required 2004-05 Perkins Performance Measures included a section on Awareness and Recruitment.

Third, House Bill 769 requires a Career Education Task Force to make recommendations to the Legislature. Six recommendations have been developed by the Task Force, one of which is "...marketing campaigns to communicate the importance of career preparation and its link with high academic standards for students, parents, the educational community and the business community".

·    This Marketing plan will provide for 24,000 four-color brochures for the parents and business community, 20,000 four-color brochures for the students, mailing for 28,000 brochures, 500 high-quality DVD\CD\VHS formatted programs, resource kits for Academy teachers, database building of Academy program sponsors, website review and recommendations, and Academy open house development.

·    See attached tabulation and supporting documents for RFP 04C-027N.

Recommendation:

I recommend the award of RFP 04C-027N, Develop a Marketing Plan for Academy Programs, and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all needed documents.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue Budget is estimated at $50,600.  The source of funds is the Secondary and Career Education Department budget, the Carl Perkins Grants.
