Title: Purchase of Pearson Digital Learning Description: Approve the purchase of curriculum and instructional software from Pearson Digital Learning including all installation, support and training for Highland Elementary School
· Site-License Upgrade from SuccessMaker V5.2 to SuccessMaker Enterprise (formerly CCC)
A total credit has been given for previous software purchases. This software will allow for seamless use on upgraded operating systems as well as enhanced reports and functionality. This purchase will upgrade the current 190 licenses of SuccessMaker V5.2 to an unlimited site-license of SuccessMaker Enterprise to meet the needs of 800+ students. The full-core software package provides 19 foundation and exploreware courses in Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science as well as courses for the ESOL population. This purchase includes full installation, training, implementation consulting, on-target analysis for FCAT forecasting, total support and intensive training for the school’s technology coordinator. The reporting system includes FCAT standards reporting.
· Two Classroom Turn-Key Solutions of Waterford Early Reading Program.
This program provides research-based early reading literacy for kindergarten students. Purchase includes Level 1 Waterford Early Reading Program Software for 60 students including a student management system, a teacher management system, and assessment software that focus on emergent and pre-literacy skills. The emphasis is on print concepts, letter knowledge, and phonological awareness and experiences in oral and written language through stories, songs and rhymes. The package includes teacher materials for two classrooms (Teacher’s Guide plus song book, Teacher set of videos, audio CDs and cassettes, Teacher copies of 52 Sing a Rhyme and Read with Me books and online tutorial). The student take-home materials provided includes two classroom sets of 52 books and four videos. This purchase provides for three days of implementation and training services and one year of full classroom support. The software will be delivered turnkey on six Dell computers with a five-year warranty.

Recommendation:
I recommend approval of the purchase of Pearson Digital Learning and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all needed documents.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the FY05 Special Revenue – Other Funds Budget is estimated at $94,030. The source of funds is the federal grant through state E2T2 (Enhancing Education Through Technology) grant awarded to St. Lucie County Schools in which Highland Elementary participated as a partner.
