Title: Dissemination Grant Application for Renaissance Learning Center

Description:

- The 2004-2005 Public Charter Schools Federal Grant Program 2004-2005 Dissemination Grant is a two-year competitive grant authorized by Federal CFDA #84.282A - Title V, Part B, Subpart 1 (formerly Title X, Part C) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.

- The 2004-2005 Public Charter Schools Federal Grant Program 2004-2005 Dissemination Grant provides funds to allow successful charter schools to assist other schools in adapting the charter school's program or to disseminate information about the charter school and best practices.

- The targeted population for this grant is staff, students, and parents in charter schools or traditional public schools.

- Eligible applicants for this grant are local education agencies which have charter schools which have been in operation for at least three consecutive years and have demonstrated overall success.

- The grant application submitted for Renaissance Learning Center has been reviewed by the appropriate District staff.

- The grant application submitted is for a second year's funding of the Public Charter Schools Dissemination Grant for Renaissance Learning Center.

- This is a voluminous document which can be found in the Board Minutes Office.

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the 2004-2005 Public Charter Schools Federal Grant Program 2004-2005 Dissemination Grant Application for Renaissance Learning Center in the amount of $200,000 effective upon award and ending September 30, 2005, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the grant which are required for implementation of the grant activities.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue - Other Funds budget is a total increase of  $200,000 in the Public Charter Schools Federal Grant Program 2004-2005 Dissemination Grant fund subject to 2.91% indirect cost, payable to the District. All grant related expenditures and contracts are authorized for payment up to the amount of the revenue.
