Title: (G) - Field Trip Request - Boca Raton High School

Description:

>The name of the group making the trip is the Boca Alliance for Student Excellence (B.A.S.E.).

>The primary purpose of the trip is to visit classes at University High School in Honolulu and colleges in Los Angeles.

>Students will have the opportunity to gain and share social, cultural and economic values by visiting, addressing and observing locations of higher learning, government officials and officers, members of the educational business community and other areas of interest.

>No class time will be missed since the trip takes place during spring break.

>Students will pay their own expenses; therefore, there will be no cost to the District.

>Students will not be denied the privilege of participating due to lack of finances.

>Six teachers (3 men and 3 women) will be chaperoning this trip.  There is no cost to the District for the chaperones.  Funding source for the chaperones is donations and self-payment.

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve Boca Raton Community High School students to travel to Honolulu, Hawaii and Los Angeles, California for their twentieth trip.  The students will leave on March 18, 2005 and return on March 28, 2005.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the District is $0.
