Title: (I) - Agreement - Town of Lantana Description:
- Aggressors, Victims & Bystanders is a violence prevention curriculum that is researched-based, has an "A" rating from the U.S. Department of Education, and teaches students positive, self-regulatory behavior skills.
- The School Police Department obtained a Federal Grant in Fiscal Year 2002 to teach the Aggressors, Victims & Bystanders curriculum to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students using municipalities and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office as partners.
- The events of 09/11/01 caused a number of agencies to withdraw officers from the program, which slowed the full implementation of this program.
- The School District Police Department applied for and received an extension of this grant through September 30, 2005.
- Lantana Police Department has faithfully provided an officer to teach this program at Lantana Middle School since Fiscal Year 2001.
- This grant funds the salary of the Lantana police officer from 10/01/04 through 09/30/05.
- The Agreement is attached.
Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board consider approval of the Partnership Agreement with the Town of Lantana for the Presentation of the Aggressors, Victims & Bystanders Curriculum.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the FY2005 and FY2006 Special Revenue-Other Funds Budgets is $54,000.00. The source of funds is the Aggressors, Victims & Bystanders Grant.
