Title: State of Florida Grading Scale - Benaim Description: The state of Florida has a grade scale as follows:
90-100 = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
60-69 = D
59 & Below = F
There is no definition in the system for 89.1 to 89.9, 79.1 to 79.9, 69.1 to 69.9 or 59.1 to 59.9, and the District has no uniform policy for these ranges.
I would like the Board to discuss the letter grade assigned to these undefined ranges so that all students are receiving the same letter grade for the same numerical grade needs to be uniform throughout the District from school to school and class to class.
Recommendation:
Presently, Student A, in an identical class as Student B, at the same or different schools, with a numerical grade of 79.5 in each of their classes, may receive either a letter grade of B or C at the teacher's discretion. This is not equitable to the student given the lower letter grade. I feel this issue lends itself to our philosophy of a single school culture.
