Title: PD2 PERSONNEL DISCIPLINARY ACTION

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve DeRita D. Summerlot's Suspension Without Pay for thirty (30) workdays effective February 17, 2005, through April 6, 2005.

Description: In February 2004, DeRita D. Summerlot became the subject of a Professional Standards investigation based upon allegations that, while at Lake Park Elementary, she misappropriated grant funds (found to be seven thousand five hundred nine dollars and eighty-two cents ($7,509.82) for her personal use.  The case was referred to the Office of the State Attorney, whereupon Ms. Summerlot was charged with grand theft. She admitted the actions.  Ms. Summerlot then entered a Pre-Trial Intervention program which required her to perform a set number of hours of community service and pay restitution to the School District.  On May 13, 2004, the School District received restitution from Ms. Summerlot in the amount of seven thousand five hundred nine dollars and eighty-two cents ($7,509.82).  On January 18, 2005, Ms. Summerlot executed a Last Chance Agreement and General Release wherein she agreed to accept discipline in the form of a suspension without pay for thirty (30) workdays.

Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the school district.
