On October 24, 2011 people across the nation came together to change the way Americans eat and think about food. The Center for Science in the Public Interest coordinated Food Day and the campaign was led by Honorary Co-Chairs Senator Tom Harkin and Representative Rosa DeLauro.

The School District of Palm Beach County was excited to support the inaugural year of Food Day. The School Food Service (SFS) Department put together an informational press release which was distributed via the District’s Public Affairs Department. In addition, School Food Service Managers were encouraged to display the press release on the student and adult serving lines as an avenue for educational outreach.

The mission of Food Day aims to build a national grassroots movement for healthy, affordable food produced in a humane, sustainable, and just way.
