Nutrition Standards/Promotion - District Vending
The School District of Palm Beach County is committed to making school campuses healthier. For many years the District has utilized a competitive bid process to procure snacks and beverages for school vending machines.
This contract incorporated language from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Smart Snacks in School requirements in order to ensure that the snacks and beverages provided in the vending machines meet the new nutrition standards. This contract will remain in place through April 21, 2016.
This contract incorporated language from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Smart Snacks in School requirements in order to ensure that the snacks and beverages provided in the vending machines meet the new nutrition standards. This contract will remain in place through April 21, 2016.
In order to ensure the items meet the standards, the School Food Service (SFS) Department evaluates all products submitted from awarded vendors and develops a list of approved items for contract 10C-60D. A new list of items will be evaluated to be in effect July 1, 2015.
The contract addresses specific requirements for all approved awardees:

- default_titleAll products must be verified as being a Smart Snack by the School Food Service Department prior to being sold in the District
- default_titleAll machines must be equipped with timers in order to control their ability to vend and not vend at the appropriate time.
