Caridad Center - Community Partner
The Caridad Center of Boynton Beach was awarded the PEP Grant for the year 2014-2015-2016-2017.
In the grants first year, with the cooperation of the School District's Physical Education Department, they were able to successfully train approximately 40 middle school teachers from 12 different middle schools. Over the three days of intensive professional development, the District's Physical Education Teachers were trained to implement a researched based curriculum, nutritional education, data collection, best practices, and much more.
Through high quality professional development, the Physical Education Teachers were able to successfully collect data on over 1,440 middle school students and have impacted moderate to vigorous activity with physical education classes by more than fifty percent. In the first year, over 11,400 middle school students benefitted from new instructional curriculum strategies, activities, and nutritional education.
