Message from the Superintendent
Michael J. Burke
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! As your Superintendent, I am thrilled about the
prospect of another school year that is sure to be filled with student success and academic
achievement, as well as the continued excellence of our A-rated School District.
The purpose of the Student and Family Handbook is to communicate the expectations,
policies, and procedures for the school year for all of our students and their families. This Handbook is a valuable
resource to reinforce the staff and administration at each of our schools who work hard to provide a safe and
positive learning environment.
You will find plenty of useful information within these pages. I encourage you to pay close attention to this
document and become familiar with its contents. As a School District, our objective is to create an atmosphere
in which we can effectively educate our students and help them thrive. That involves providing thoroughly
explained procedures, as well as established parameters and clear directives.
The District’s Student and Family Handbook can be found on your student’s SIS page. The Handbook includes
the Student Code of Conduct, the Notices of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Rights under
the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), and many other important forms. If you cannot access your
student’s SIS page, please notify your child’s school promptly, so that they can provide you with hard copies of
these documents.
Additionally, it is very important that students, parents, and guardians become familiar with the District’s Zero
Tolerance Policy. We all benefit when everyone is aware and abides by the guidelines and instructions that are
necessary for ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
Each new school year offers the opportunity for a fresh start. I encourage students to make the most of this
year and set themselves on a path toward success by putting in the hard work today that will serve as the
foundation for a successful and rewarding future.
I invite you to partner with us in fulfilling our District mission to educate, affirm, and inspire each student in an
equity-embedded school system. I appreciate your support of our District and look forward to celebrating the
many accomplishments of our outstanding students and dedicated staff.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Burke
Michael J. Burke, Superintendent
