Aligned with Florida%u2019s middle school agricultural education standards, this introductory academy provides students with a foundational understanding of modern agricultural systems, environmental stewardship, plant and animal science, and leadership development through FFA integration. Students will maintain the school%u2019s vegetable garden and facilitate annual vegetable tastings in our cafeteria. Through hands-on investigations and practical applications, students explore sustainable resource practices, agricultural mechanics, and high-demand career pathways, establishing a strong foundation for future study in high-school agritechnology programs and Florida%u2019s vital agricultural industry.Pre%u2013Artificial Intelligence (AI)The Pre-AI program prepares students for success in an AI-based society by building technical skills and higher-order reasoning. Students explore five big ideas in AI: perception, representation and reasoning, machine learning, human-AI interaction, and societal impact. Through hands-on lab activities, students learn how computers use sensors to see and hear, build models, and discover how machines learn from data. They analyze images with computer vision tools and organize data using spreadsheets. Students also study internet safety, the responsible and ethical use of AI, and the history of the field.
