Menu Design & Promotions
In the 2017-2018 school year as part of our National School Lunch Week promotion, “School Lunch – Recipes for Success”, the School Food Service (SFS) Department organized a recipe contest. The recipe contest was open to all School Food Service Managers and their staff. On November 7, 2017 we had nine teams compete, presenting 15 delicious recipes to a panel of 11 student judges.
The winning recipe was a Supremo Pizza which was menued throughout the District at all levels on January 31, 2018. Then throughout the rest of the school year, many of the remaining dishes were menued as well. Below are the wide variety of recipes judged in the contest:

The SFS recipe contest was a tremendous success and provided an opportunity to showcase our staffs’ culinary talents. In addition to the recipe contest, we also introduced a number of different freshly prepared menu items throughout the 2017-2018 school year. We started off the year with introducing an Arroz Con Pollo, Beefaroni, Italian Chicken Penne, Asian Chicken Salad, Breakfast Smoothie, Red Beans and Rice, and a variety of Cobblers to include apple and blueberry.
