Title: Recommendation: I recommend that the School Board approve the continuation of agreement between Florida Atlantic University and the School District of Palm Beach County in the amount of $70,186.50 effective July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the agreement which are required for implementation of the contract. Description: Specifically this agreement supports: 4 the continuation of the partnership between the School District and Florida Atlantic University which has been in existence since 1997, 4 the year-long course to train and certify 45 teachers in Reading Recovery is in conjunction with Florida Atlantic University, and 4 the commitment of thirty-eight Title I schools have made a commitment to Reading Recovery for 2005-2006. For FY 2006, the Reading Recovery Program supports: 4 the training of 45 teachers in partnership with Florida Atlantic University, 4 Continuing Contact Classes for 100 trained teachers providing Reading Recovery services at their schools, and 4 training sites with a one-way mirror in which to teach lessons “behind-the-glass”. Evaluation of the program will include: 4 K-3 Assessment results, 4 Third Grade FCAT results for former Reading Recovery Program students, and 4 Annual site report based on data collection in Palm Beach County schools.
