Title: AC8 Cooperative Agreement with Kids In New Directions, Inc. Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the Cooperative Agreement with Kids In New Directions, Inc., to provide educational enrichment curriculum and instruction to children in the School Age Child Care Program, effective August 1, 2005 through June 30, 2009, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents related to the Agreement.
Description: · The purpose of this agreement is to establish a framework for the delivery of education enrichment curriculum and instruction to students in the School-Age Child Care (SACC) program with Kids In New Directions, Inc. (KIND).
· The goal of the Agreement is to make the resources available from KIND to students in our SACC programs by enabling both entities to apply for grants, awards, and take other action that will maximize the opportunities to develop and implement programs in the most timely and efficient manner.
· The provisions of the agreement include:
o A five-year term that enables the District and KIND to apply for, fund, and implement programs.
o Authority for KIND to fund the programs and the mechanism for the transfer of funds to pay for programs established under this agreement.
o The establishment of an efficient and effective administrative procedure to develop and implement the Champs curriculum through cooperation with agencies and foundations.
· This is an umbrella Cooperative Agreement that will streamline and formalize the approval process for individual schools dealing with KIND funded enrichment programs.
Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the operating budget. The District will be the recipient of funding for programs at individual schools throughout the District.
