Title: CP-2 AE Agreement for Wellington HS Veterinary Academy

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve an Agreement for Architectural Design Services with Song & Associates, Inc. in the amount of $221,700. and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for the Wellington High School Veterinarian Academy Project Number 2191-8228.

 

Description:

Architectural Design Services required for the development of permitted design documents for remodeling of existing classroom spaces to accommodate program requirements for a 325 student station, 30,351 gross square foot academy for an equine/pre-veterinarian program. The architect will analyze existing classroom space to determine the most appropriate and cost effective use to fulfill these program requirements, in accordance with the Educational Specifications approved by the Board on July 19, 2006.

 

Estimated Budget for Planning and Design:   $157,080.

Estimated Budget for Construction:             $2,258,025.                

 

Fee for Basic Services:  $158,000.

                                         $40,000. (Design alternate to convert existing theater into a long

                                                         distance learning center and two veterinarian labs.)

 

Funds Available For:

Additional Services:         $15,800.

Reimbursable Expenses:    $7,900.

Total Contract Award:   $221,700.

 

Eight (8) firms responded to the RFP of which three (3) were shortlisted.  The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows: 

 

(1) Song & Associates, Inc.

(2) SBLM Architects, Inc.  

(3) H2L2 Architects/Planners, LLC

 

Minority Sub-Consultant Participation: 26%

Financial Impact:

The financial impact is a commitment of $227,716. which includes $6,016. for District provided Professional Responsibility Insurance.  The source of funds is the Capital Project Budget and capital Contingency.
