MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math (STEAM)
Available School Options
The Arts are integrated into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
learning experiences in the STEAM program at Congress Middle School. Students Choice
engage in a rigorous curriculum designed to stimulate artistic creativity through · Congress Middle
technology rich, project–based learning while simultaneously promoting academic · Hidden Oaks K–8
achievement through the study of STEM disciplines. Students also develop an In–House: None available
understanding of the significance of the arts as they acquire knowledge and
understanding of the core academic STEM subjects and standards. STEAM
students can design and produce objects using 3–D printers in an interdisciplinary
STEAM Innovation Lab or design, program, and test robots using advanced
robotics software. They can participate in the Piano/Keyboarding Composition
Lab, learn to play orchestral instruments, or learn different styles of Dance in
a Dance studio and have the opportunity to participate in other arts classes.
Congress Middle School students will also have the opportunity to participate in
the Cougar Marching Band.
SciQuest Available School Options
The SciQuest Academy is a challenging, project–based curriculum that explores
the world of science with hands–on activities and stimulating technologies. Choice
Students investigate real world science using inquiry based activities to build a None available
deeper understanding of scientific concepts such as physics, chemistry, biology, In–House
Earth science, space, and computer technology. This three year program is · Independence Middle
intended to develop and prepare science enriched students for the future.
Students can expect to research, design, model and complete projects that are
applicable to the real world as they take their ideas through the complete inquiry
or engineering process.
Small School Continuum
The Small School Continuum at Village Academy is a unique school model that Available School Options
is designed to provide a continuous and nurturing educational experience for
students in a small school environment. Located on one school campus, Village Choice
Academy students in kindergarten through grade 12 participate in a continuum · Village Academy
of experiences in Information Technology and Geospatial Technology, including In–House: None available
preparation for future careers in urban planning, engineering, medicine,
mathematics, chemistry, meteorology, physics, oceanography, data science,
business, law, and humanities.
Spanish Dual Language Available School Options
The Spanish Dual Language program offers a continuation for students who have
been in a Spanish Dual Language program at the elementary level or who have a Choice
high level of Spanish language proficiency. Highly motivated students are engaged · Conniston Middle
in a challenging academic environment in which three of their core academic · L.C. Swain Middle
courses are taught in Spanish. A Spanish language placement test may be given in · Palm Springs Middle
order to verify Spanish language proficiency at the Grade 6 level. In–House
