Excellence in Customer Service
School Food Service Kitchen Projects
Throughout the school year School Food Service completed various projects to further improve the efficiency
of the program:
Loggers Run Middle School received two new Structural Concepts Air Merchandisers to increase the
• efficiency of the grab-n-go section of the serving line. A Refrigerated Air Merchandiser replaced their old
cold bar and a Heated Air Merchandiser provided students the capability of grabbing their hot lunch items
through the grab-n-go line in addition to the regular serving line.
Forest Hill Elementary had a secondary serving line that was inefficient with a majority of the equipment
• outdated and inoperable. We modified a table to add a new three compartment dry well and a new
Structural Concepts Refrigerated Air Merchandiser. This allowed the line to be open to its full capacity and
increased the efficiency of the serving line.
Belle Glade Elementary School took on the challenge of feeding the charter schools that were serviced
• out of Pahokee Elementary. In order to speed up the cooking process and efficiency we upgraded the
existing steamer. We removed a three pan steamer and added a new three over six pan steamer increasing
their cooking capacity by six pans. This has proven to be quite a significant improvement.
Glades Central High School Serving Line Project
In an effort to provide Glades Central High School a facelift in the serving line, School Food Service applied
for and received a grant from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). This
initiative has allowed one of the serving lines to be remodeled into two and has provided new and updated
equipment to allow for greater customer service.
