WHEN TO BEGIN? THE FIRST DAY:
Welcome & introduce all new teachers at faculty meeting
First impressions count! Schedule a new teacher welcome & onboarding meeting with
Onboarding begins the day of the interview! mentors/buddies
Remember employees choose their employers too. Consider providing a welcome gift (school themed shirt, calendar, etc.)
Provide school specific and important information (school map,
important contact names, list of where to find resources, school
guidelines, processes & procedures)
Ask mentors/buddies to invite new teachers to lunch
SOME HINTS & TIPS FOR INTERVIEW DAYS: THE FIRST WEEK:
Prompt interview schedule Check in with new teachers periodically
Friendly reception Mentors/buddies check in with assigned teachers periodically
Conduct interview in a professional manner Clarify roles & responsibilities when necessary
Offer a school tour Ensure ESP mentor has been assigned
Offer the applicant the opportunity to ask questions
Follow-up promptly
BEFORE THE FIRST DAY: THE FIRST MONTH & THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR:
Assign a mentor/buddy to welcome the new teacher via phone call or Schedule consistent check in meetings or chats with new teachers

Grade/Department chair welcomes new team member Keep and encourage open communication
Prepare welcome packet/checklist for new teacher Provide coaching, consistent/ meaningful feedback

ONCE THE TEACHER APPLICANT IS CLEARED BY HR: @TeachPalmBeach
Call or email the applicant to congratulate him/her on completing hiring
requirements and inform on next steps (ie. invite the applicant in for a school
tour. Let the applicant know when to report to work, and when to expect
details on school start procedures)
