Employee Working Conditions
Employee Injury
The following procedures are to be followed when an employee is injured or exposed to blood-
borne pathogens in the line of duty:
All injuries and exposures must be reported to Facility Coordinators immediately. Coordinators or
office staff may assist employees in completing the proper forms
Worker’s Compensation and medical treatment forms must be completed as soon as possible in
accordance with School District Worker’s Compensation Policy, and the employee will be sent to
a school district contracted physician for immediate treatment.
Grounds for Termination of School Bus Drivers and School Bus Attendants
A school bus driver or attendant may be released from employment during their probationary
period. The school bus driver or attendant may be terminated immediately for any of the following
violations (but not limited to):
Incompetence or ineffective in carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities
Conviction of a felony or any crime of moral turpitude as defined by Florida Statute
Willful damage to District property
Theft of time or District property, including stealing from District employees or while on School
Board property
Disruption of the operation
Reporting to work intoxicated, consuming intoxicating beverages and/or using mood-altering
drugs on the job or any time that could affect employment performance. (SB Policy 3.96, 3.961
and 3.02).
Acts of insubordination
Conviction of two or more traffic violations in any eighteen (18) month period in any vehicle
(drivers only)
Two preventable accidents on a school bus in any eighteen (18) month period (drivers only)
Revocation, disqualification, cancellation, expiration or suspension of driving privileges (drivers
only)
Excessive unexcused absences or tardiness
Violations of any School Board Policies
Personal Mail and Telephone Calls
Employees are not permitted to receive personal mail at a school district address
Telephones may be used by employees for emergencies only, with the permission of coordinators
or school personnel
Coordinators and office personnel will not take personal messages for bus drivers or attendants
unless the message is of an emergency nature.
