seniors with public, private community, and university educational options. The 2021 HBCU Tour included
representatives from 34 institutions. The 2022 HBCU Virtual Tour included representatives from 33 institutions.
The 2022 HBCU Tour was held virtually February 7-11, 2022.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Program Development and Support
School Counselors, as Specialists in social-emotional development and mental health, played a key role in
rollout of SEL direct instruction to all students. They provided direct instructions to students in classroom
lessons, provided support to teachers in the implementation of morning meeting and SEL practices, and
supported schools in the development of programs to support adult SEL. In the 2021-2022 school year, School
Counselors at elementary and middle schools used newly acquired small group curricula targeting students
in need of support with emotional regulation, resiliency, and executive functioning for supplemental (tier 2)
interventions.
Adolescent Depression Awareness Program
In partnership with The Johns Hopkins University and the Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation, School
Counselors and other educators were trained in the Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP). The
ADAP program and curriculum educates high school students, teachers, and parents about the illness of
depression. Johns Hopkins Adolescent Depression Awareness Program.
